Summary[edit]

Description
English: in 1904, this group of women were involved in organizing and managing the St. Louis World's Fair. They expressly rejected a request to be photographed as a group; however, a photographer working for the Newspaper Enterprise Association took this photograph "without their consent, Saturday, during the opening exercises of the fair". To the extreme right of the photo (the left of the line of women) is Mary Margaretta Fryer Manning, wife of Daniel Manning; in the middle of the second row, holding a fan to her face, is Helen Miller Gould.
