| Description |
English: After Sebastian Munster's death in 1552, Sebastian Henricpetri took on the task of publishing several new editions of the Cosmographia between 1588 and 1628. He produced several new maps for the Atlas. This individual map of Sumatra was one of them. The engraved elephant had previously appeared on Munster's map of Ceylon. This was due to the continued confusion over the identity of the Ptolemaic Taprobana. Petri, this time mistakenly, favours Sumatra |
