Description
English: This map shows both the city and surroundings, including the rice fields, waterways and fortifications. A detailed alpha-numeric key indicates buildings and sites of importance and insets depict views of the city, the town hall and the castle. A full length panorama at the bottom of the map shows the city as viewed from the sea, with the lion rampant, the symbol of the V.O.C., in a cartouche above. The panorama, which has its own lettered key, is flanked by depictions of Javanese natives and wildlife, including a cayman and a leopard.
