Map of East Indies

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This map was first published by Johannes Janssonius in his Atlas Maritimus in 1650. The depiction of the East Indies has not changed from Willem Bleau's India quae Orientalis, due to V.O.C. stranglehold on new information coming to the market. However numerous discoveries of the south and west coast of Australia (Terra Del Zur) are shown, including Hartog (1616), Leeuwin (1622) and Pieter Nuyts (1627).
