Glifo de Azcapotzalco que aparece en el Códice Mendocino, mismo que se encuentra en la Universidad de Oxford, en Inglaterra. El nombre está ligado a una leyenda dirigida a Quetzalcóatl, la deidad más alta de los toltecas. ". . . Después de formarse el Quinto Sol, Quetzalcóalt fue el encargado de volver a crear al hombre, y por ello tuvo que introducirse en el Mictlan o inframundo, donde la muerte guarda los restos fósiles de la humanidad pasada. Para realizar su encomienda, utiliza a las hormigas que le asignaron para que le indicaran donde se encontraban los restos humanos las hormigas fueron y para poder rescatarlos, Quetzalcoatl se tuvo que convertir en una de ellas; pero al huir, se tropezó y cayó; por lo que los esqueletos volaron y se revolvieron al esparcirse por el suelo. Cuando los juntó y los volvió a armar, no coincidían, por ello algunos hombres son más pequeños que otros.

Más tarde las hormigas también penetraron en el inframundo para sacar granos de maíz que habían Quedado olvidados y eran necesarios para mantener a la nueva humanidad."
