Description

A Avenida República do Chile ou Avenida Chile, é uma via da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, localizada no bairro do Centro e tem início na Rua do Lavradio e término no Largo da Carioca.

Foi aberta em 1960 em terrenos do demolido Morro de Santo Antônio, possibilitando uma variante do trânsito proveniente da Zona Norte que utilizava a já congestionada Rua do Riachuelo.

Como uma avenida moderna, apresenta as mais arrojadas construções do Centro, como o edifício da Petrobrás, do Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social – BNDES, o Conjunto Cultural da Caixa Econômica Federal e a Catedral Metropolitana, todos significativos exemplares da arquitetura brasileira.

São edifícios de uso comercial e alguns deles pertencem as mais poderosas estatais brasileiras.
