| Description |
English: These next few images were shot as we passed the Royal Academy of Arts. They're my favourites as they show the banners for the "Citizens and Kings" exhibition with Jacques Louis David's famous painting of the revolutionary Jean Paul Marat lying dead in his bath during the French revolution. Known for his radical views on the aristocracy as voiced through his editorship of the paper "L'Ami du Peuple", he was also one of the most radical members of the National Convention . He was murdered by Charlotte Corday - a moderate Girondin revolutionary. And yes, I know all about the negatives associated with Marat - but it doesn't stop me wishing we had some revolutionaries around now with some of his intelligence. |
