Australian hospitalman waxes his surfboard at 1st Australian Support Compound

Summary[edit]

Description
English: Vung Tau, South Vietnam. 1968-11. 43645 Corporal Robert Johannes Rosier of Inala, Queensland, waxes his surfboard down in off-duty hours before taking to the surf at Vung Tau. He is a member of the 1st Australian Field Hospital, one of the units of the 1st Australian Logistic Support Group (1ALSG) based at Vung Tau. The barbed wire in the background is part of the perimeter defences around the logistics complex. Besides surfboards a variety of sail and power boats are available for troops at stand-down periods. Note the sign `Prohibited Area - Keep Out'.
