Summary[edit]

Description
English: Shown is an Australian/NZ dual socket-outlet (with an additional switch) and a "brushed aluminium" cover plate. (The wall-plate is pictured with both "cover-on" and "cover-off".)

The following should be noted: -

It is a requirement in Australia/NZ that "Each socket-outlet shall be individually controlled by a separate switch".

All such devices are (now) constructed of moulded plastic insulating material - without any metal "yoke". This means that, while a Earth/Ground connection is provided at the relevant socket connection, additional Earthing/Grounding is NOT required for any "frame" or the "cover" of any such device. (In effect, these devices are "double insulated.")

The compact size of the switches involved allows space for items such as an additional switch, to control other devices such as lights, fans etc.

The screws fixing the wall-plate to its "mounting", shown in the lower photo, are deeply inset and cannot be contacted - except with the use of an appropriate tool (a screw driver.)

The manufacturer has provided appropriate mounting screws with this wall-plate and a position in the wall plate for storing them until they are required. (However, the installer chose not to use these but used others and left those provided by the manufacturer as "spares".)

The mounting holes at the corners allow any such wall-plate to be affixed directly to a timber or masonry wall, if required.

The mounting dimensions and screw threads used by wall-plates and their mountings in Australia/NZ are the same as those used by similar wall-plates in North America.
