Aung Zaw Hein

Aung Zaw Hein (A Burmese Rohingya Activist and Humanitarian Worker) born in 12th October 1997 in Sittwe, Myanmar. He grew up and finished his studies in Sittwe and became an Internally Displaced Person inside Myanmar in 2012 communal violence. He dedicated himself to working as a Rohingya youth activist for democracy and human rights, particularly on behalf of the Rohingya community. Rohingya are an ethnic minority group recognized as the most persecuted minority in the world by Human Rights Organization from around the world. As result of his activities demanded to restore and promote the rights and become a citizen which they are being denied by Myanmar brutal government since World War 2. He has been advocating network of human rights to promote human rights for Rohingya community. He said It was very painful to see ( Aung San Suu Kyi) the person we regard as a leader, as a democracy icon and as a peace champion to stand there and defend the military and their crimes, while undermining the suffering of the people, undermining the tragedy and violence and denying our existence. He mentioned that his family living in Rakhine have been in a living hell, living in open prisons in their own villages without even having a right to rebuild their houses. He urges the international community to protect the Rohingya community under international laws. This is what I am hoping and expecting to see for my community.
