Augustus N. Whiting home
Description
The Whiting residence was built by Isaac N. Whiting, father of Augustus. Construction began in 1839 and took three years to complete. Isaac lived in the house until his death in 1880. Augustus lived there until his death in 1903; his widow lived there until 1920. The house was razed in 1930. Caption reads: "This is the most valuable located residence property in the city, being at 66 S. Third St., opp. the State Capitol."
