Summary[edit]

Description
English: On the Atatürk Boulevard, starting next to the building of General Directorate of Turkish Red Crescent, the first four-storey apartment blocks of Yenişehir district are standing next to each other: Alemdar, Kocabeyoğlu, Armağan, Koç and the others. In between them, the very first private hospital of Ankara can be spotted: “Ankara Sıhhat Yurdu” (Ankara Health Residence) of Doctor Rıfat Ertüzün. At the one side of the İzmir Avenue –back then called Uçar Street- we can see the Özen Patisserie; Kutlu Patisserie is at the other side. A small orchestra is performing at the Kutlu Patisserie along with the residents of Yenişehir district who are eating cakes and drinking tea. The hall of patisserie is quite large. Picture galleries are being displayed at the walls of the hall.

Atatürk Bulvarı ve Gazi Mustafa Kemal Bulvarı, Kızılay Genel Müdürlüğü, 1940'lı Yıllar

Ankara’nın merkezi olan Kızılay Meydanı’na adını veren ve Erken Cumhuriyet döneminde 1928-1930 yılları arasında gerçekleştirilen binanın mimarı Avusturyalı Robert Oerley’dir. Hilâl-i Ahmer Cemiyeti bu binaya yerleşirken, Kızılay Genel Müdürlüğü adını alacaktı. Kuruluşun güzel parkı kısa zamanda semt insanının günlük hayatına karışmış, hele köşedeki kum havuzu küçüklerin hiç ayrılmak istemedikleri bir oyun yeri olmuştu. Parktaki büfede, Kızılay’ın maden suyu, çeşitli içecekler satılırdı.

Gazi Mustafa Kemal Bulvarı, iki tarafta bahçeli evlerle, yabancı elçiliklere ev sahipliği yapan yapılarla, yer yer boş arsalarıyla askerî fabrikalara uzanırdı. Vali konağı Kızılay’ın bahçesine sırtını vermişti. Karşısında Mustafa Necati Bey’in bahçeli evi vardı. Taksitlerini bile ödeyemeden genç yaşta vefat etti Maarif Vekili. Evi, kurucusu olduğu Türk Maarif Cemiyeti satın aldı. Burada bir anaokulu kurdu. Bulvar, “Gazi Mustafa Kemal” adını almadan önce, 1935’e kadar, Necati Bey Caddesi adını taşıdı.
