Description

Неизвестный художник. Портрет наказного атамана Донского войска Д.М. Мартынова. 1790

Д.М. Мартынов — наказной атаман Войска Донского. В 1772 году за участие в первой Турецкой войне, будучи полковником, награжден именной золотой медалью в 30 червонцев „для ношена на шее". В 1796 году — кавалер ордена Анны и генерал-лейтенант. На портрете Мартынов представлен в казачьей одежде, с „украшенной алмазами" золотой медалью с профилем Екатерины II и с орденами Анны I степени и Владимира 2 степени, при этом ордена приписаны позднее. Обыкновение добавлять на исполненных ранее портретах вновь полученные ордена было очень распространено в 18 веке.
