for eccen-tricity in Siwash history. Erankling dodged the whole college and got wildin the eyes. He looked like an eminent statesmanwho was being compelled to act as barker in a circusagainst his will. It must have churned up his vitalsto do his sketch act with Ole; but when you havehad one of those four-year cases, and it has gottentangled up in your past and future, you cant alwaysdictate just what you are going to do. It was plainto see that Miss Spencer had Erankling hooked, hal-tered, hobbled, staked out, Spanish-bitted, wrapped upand stamped with her name and laid on the shelf tobe called for; and it was just as evident that sheconsidered he would be all the nicer if she walkedaround on him for a while and massaged his dis-position a little with her little French heels. So Frankling continued to divide time with Ole,and all the fellows whom he had insulted about theirneckties and all the girls whom he had forgotten todance with sat around in perfect content and watchedthe show.

Frankling counteredwith the promenade two weeks later, but he went clearto the ropes when Miss Spencer came out one finemorning at chapel with Oles football charm — theone he had won the year the team had annihilatedtwo universities and seven assorted colleges. He cameback gamely and decorated her with fraternity hat-pins, cuff buttons, belt buckles and side combs; andon the strength of it he got three Friday evenings ina row. That might have jarred any one but Ole.But he came up smiling and took Miss Spencer to aY. M. C.
