Description
English: A sign from the MTA Capital Improvements program claiming they're "improving non-stop" at Astoria Boulevard Rapid Transit Station, on the BMT Astoria Line in the Astoria section of Queens, New York City. This is one of five images of the site taken in April 2019. According to the poster, the goal was to add four new elevators for ADA complicity, rehabilitation of the platform level staircases, reconfiguration of the mezzanine, and rehabilitation of the platforms and overpasses. In the case of the latter, the entire line was raised above the portion of the Grand Central Parkway used by Interstate 278 in order to prevent strikes by trucks or other over-height vehicles (i.e. double-decker buses) traveling beneath the elevated station.
