English: Donkeys face away from the onslaught of the monsoon rains in Senegal.

Many Atlantic hurricanes are birthed out of storm systems in West Africa. This particular storm system, photographed here on August 31, 2017 near Sandiara, Senegal, would ultimately cross the Atlantic as a tropical wave and develop into the Category 4 Hurricane Jose off the coast of Hispaniola on September 8th, 2017.

These donkeys are exhibiting what's known as "tail to the wind" or "tail to the rain" behavior, observed also in other large mammals. By positioning their hindquarters towards the direction of the wind or rain, the donkeys are able to minimize the amount of exposure their more sensitive head and neck areas receive to the inclement weather.

The trees in the background are baobabs, Adansonia digitata.
