Summary[edit]

Description

600cc (25hp) overhead cam four stroke engines being assembled at Lloyd Motorenwerke, Bremen

Lloyd produced two engines used in snowmobiles after the demise of Borgward in 1961. They were two strokes that were used in cars before 1958.

The 386cc twin was used by Yukon King in 1968-69, Sno Prince in 1969-70, Ski Daddler 1969 and Herters in 1970.

Cooled by centrifugal fan, the fuel to oil mixture was 40 to 1, somewhat lean for the era.

The Lloyd engine blazed its way into racing history when the 1968 Yukon King factory team won every race they entered in the 295cc stock class.

However, the versions sold weren't very powerful and AMF Ski Daddler actually gave many owners new snowmobiles at no cost, with other engines. They were rated at 16hp and AMF had figured their snow machines needed at least 14hp. These engines did not perform up to expectation, and they used them only for part of one year.
