Summary[edit]

Description
English: This is a war monument and a reminder of our painful history and gift to posterity. The term 'Askari' is an indian and swahili name which loosely translated means "soldiers". These were men recruited by the British to serve in the World War 1.They were armed and equipped like soldiers but they would engage themselves also as servants. This was dedicated to the East African Askaris, porters and carrier corps who served in different categories during the Great War.
