| Description |
English: Ascot Racecourse This is the main grandstand of the racecourse, as viewed from the High Street. It was built between 2004 and 2006 as part of the major redevelopment works at the venue. Formal horse racing has taken place at Ascot since 1711 when Queen Anne first saw the potential of the open heathland as a location where horses could gallop at full stretch. The main gateposts here commemorate the completion of the grandstand and the 295th anniversary of racing in 2006. The Ascot Racecourse website is here http://www.ascot.co.uk/ |
