| Description | It is the gateway to the great Venice Arsenal, surrounded by crenellated walls of the twelfth century. The Arsenal of Venice, was the natural outgrowth to that spirit of commerce and genius for barter. It was also a powerful auxiliary to the ambition of the Venetians to be able to defend their interests in the Adriatic Sea. |
