English: " Photograph of a 1934 mural entitled "Arrival of Mary Carroll Caton at Castle Thunder" painted by Leonard Marion Bahr (1905-1990) located on the wall of the Catonsville High School library in Catonsville, Baltimore County, Maryland. The mural was commissioned by the Public Works of Art Project. The scene depicts the arrival of Mary (Polly) Carroll Caton (1770-1846) at Castle Thunder, her home on the Caton Manor estate, which was given to her in 1787 by her father, Charles Carroll of Carrollton (1737-1832), upon her marriage to Richard Caton (1763-1845), an English businessman. In the picture Mary is stepping down from a carriage and is warmly welcomed by her husband, most probably, and by a Caucasian girl holding flowers. To the far left is an African American coachman looking on; to the right is a Caucasian servant carrying the luggage. To the far right is an elderly African American man with a cane, holding back a dog. In the background to the right are a young Caucasian lady and girl watching the arrival. Under the mural are signs describing the type of books on the shelves below, such as Biography, History, and Reference. Castle Thunder stood until 1906, when it was razed. It is the present site of the Catonsville Library, located on the northwest corner of Beaumont Avenue and Frederick Road. The mural was destroyed in the 1960s during a renovation of the high school."
