Summary[edit]
DescriptionArriva London hybrid bus Volvo B5L Wrightbus, Edinburgh, 25 January 2010.jpg |
English: Arriva London North bus HV3 (reg. LJ09 KOH), a 2009 Volvo B5L with Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini bodywork, pictured here resplendent in London bus Hybrid Technology livery but a long way from London, all the way north in Edinburgh, Scotland, at the Central garage of Lothian Buses. The reason for this discrepancy is because the bus has yet to be delivered - it's still on dealer plates - this was presumably a stopover on its journey from the Wrightbus factory in Northern Ireland to London. HV3 was one of the six pre-production B5L models which entered service in London on Arriva operated London Buses route 114. As an already loyal customer, having bought hundreds of diesel powered Volvo/Wrightbus single and double-deckers since 2004, and with several more on order, the visit was presumably made with an eye to the council owned operator being one of the first users of the model outside London. The management appear not to have been swayed however - when in August 2011 the first hybrid buses were delivered to the company, and they were of the completely different Alexander Dennis Enviro400H model - the first time it had bought anything from this particular company, having last bought models from its predecessors Dennis and Alexander in 2003 and 1999 respectively. The company did eventually take Volvo hybrids - B5L successor 7900H integral single-deckers, in 2013. |
