Español: La Aristoloquia atrapa a los insectos y los utiliza para su fecundación, pero no los mata. De hecho los mantiene protegidos y alimentados hasta que la fecundan y luego los libera .
En la Peninsula Ibérica solo cuenta con 5 especies Aristolochia baetica Aristolochia clematitis Aristolochia pistolochia Aristolochia rotunda Aristolochia paucinervis Las flores son solitarias, pueden llegar a medir hasta 5 cm, de color amarillo y, según madurez el interior del tubo floral cambia del verde al rojo oscuro. Son muy interesantes pues presentan un largo tubo, engrosado en la base, con un labio largo a modo de tapadera. La garganta de la flor es velluda y con surcos oscuros que se dirigen hacia el interior El fruto es una cápsula globosa. Es de hábito de matorrales aclarados, pedregales. Sirve de alimento (planta nutricia) a la oruga Zerynthia rumina (oruga arlequin) éstas, de unos 3 cm de largo, son monófagas y se alimentan únicamente con el género Aristolochia. La mariposa pone un huevo en cada aristolochia de forma que sólo haya una oruga en cada planta. |
