Description
English: The row of sculpted metopes on the north side of the temple of the goddess of the city of Ilion (Troy), Athena, began with an image of the sun god's quadriga rising out of the sea. Like the Parthenon in Athens, the row perhapds continued with depictions of the battles for Troy and ended with the moon goddess, Selene. Sch 9582, from Schliemann's excavation, 1872
Deutsch: Die Reihe von gemeißelten Metopen an der Nordseite des Tempels der Göttin der Stadt Ilion (Troja), Athena, begann mit einem Bild der aus dem Meer aufsteigenden Quadriga des Sonnengottes.
