The living room windows of the apart-ment open into a clear view of the garden space,administration building and drive-in entrance. Itconsists of a living room, bedroom, kitchen, dinette,and bath. A Dutch fireplace has been placed inthe dinette. Covered porches extend on two sidesof- the apartment. A typical section of a guest room building showsthe concrete block walls, exposed porch rafter andconcrete block pillars. Floors are of concrete withsolid carpet. Tile roofs and all steel sash are em-ployed, A special architectural feature of the guestroom building is the half circle arch entry to thelong porches which breaks an otherwise monoton-ous facade. Unusual ceiling design has been introduced inthe main dining room, featuring tube lighting ontop of beams running between ceiling joists. Amellow and homey atmosphere has been achievedthrough the generous use of copper planting boxes, (See Page 46) September, 1947 27

W.Penhorwood, Dodge and Plymouth distributor ofSanta Rosa, California embodied numerous in-teresting features. FIRST. An entirely new site for the constructionwas selected which offered ample space for thebuilding and utilities on level ground, and wasideally located with frontage on State Highway No. 101 with rear access available on B Street.THE PROBLEM The problem was to design a shop as efficientlyarranged as possible with quick access to theParts Department, elimination of all unnecessarymoving of automobiles, and with good light, heatand ventilation.
