W. Kelham, Architect with concrete. Terra cotta erection keptpace through inclement weather. Interiorcrafts followed simultaneously. This rapiderection, breaking all Coast records, wasmade possible through the splendid co-ord-ination effected by the builders organizationamong the craftsman, there being at thepeak over eight hundred employed. Intense-ly pleased were the owners to be moved intotheir new home only ten months from theoutset, when two world figures sped acrossan ocean and a continent to officially openthis the tallest of Shell buildings. Proud, indeed, must be the architect, toview from the placid bay the many finestructures he has contributed to the Metro-politan skyline. They vary in height andbulk, line and color, each an admirable com-position in its own right—rich measures inthe crescendo of his genius. With its scin-tillating shaft the plaything of sunlight byday, a pillar of amber at night, the ShellBuilding rises from their midst—primepiece—a sepia symphony!
