Description |
English: A series of small ponds are separated by grass-covered dikes and trees. Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. A series of wire mesh fences have been erected around many of the trees at the site, in order to protect features of the cultural landscape from destruction by local wildlife. The fencing is primarily concentrated around trees nearest the building complex, but it also extends to many of the older trees around the ponds. Although these do not contribute to the landscape's historic character, the historic presence of wire fencing for plant control makes them compatible. Also note the erosion at the end of Pond 4. The deterioration of trees, visitor use, and wildlife have contributed to erosion. Muskrats and beavers have aggravated this issue, threatening the historic integrity of the gardens.
