| Description |
English: Approaching Pen y parc cottage The hamlet of Llanbabo nowadays consists of a handful of farms and cottages. The area suffered major depopulation in the 19thC with the migration of farm workers to the slate industry of Caernarfonshire. The terms "Llanbabs" came to be applied to all migrant workers form Anglesey and to this day the inhabitants of former quarrying village of Deiniolen SH5763 where a large number of such migrants settled are still known by this nickname. "Llanbabs" have a reputation of being hard men and a jibe such as "rel Llanbabs" (=typical Llanbabs)can easily turn a pub into a battlefield. |
