A member of the Vegetation Management Crew stands near the trunk of a tall, leafless apple tree, holding a small sign. The lower branches on the left side of the tree bend toward the ground.

In 2022, the park's Vegetation Managment Crew documented historic fruit trees at Purchase Knob. Note the broken scaffold on the left side of the tree. It is possible that the trees were planted around 1880, and they are now surrounded by encroaching vegetation.
