Title
English: The Multitude
Deutsch: Große Schar
Description
English: From a series of 25 sketches for frescoes "Pictures of Revelation" (1933); this sketch based on Revelation 7:9–17, depicting the Multitude adoring The Lamb (Adoration of the Lamb by the 144-thousand). Fugel often turned to Revelation as a subject, and between 1917 and 1933 he created sketches for frescoes on the topic that are now in the collection of Scheyern Abbey. The series was included in a 1933 book on Revelation (Die Apokalypse, oder, die Offenbarung des hl. Johannes by Prof. Jakob Schäfer; see References) and illustrate the subject in a narrative fashion that stays close to the text.
