Cleanup for general use, but takes a few liberties to make it work better in an electronic medium, such as manipulating the paper edges slightly, cropping out some, and adding in a tiny sliver of paper elsewhere, to avoid a border.
More conservative cleanup: Only obvious, easily-fixed damage repaired.
Original, unadjsted image (colours unadjusted, and almost certainly wrong - the background should be white). |
This is a retouched picture, which means that it has been digitally altered from its original version. Modifications: Levels adjusted, rips repaired, obvious damage fixed, cropped fairly loosely, then gaps filled in, attempts to remove obvious staining and scanner reflections, etc. Restoration limited by the extensive damage you'd expect in an artwork five centuries old - older than the country where it now resides - so I kept things somewhat conservative..
