y Antonio betweenthe designs for the Embroideries and the Relief of theSilver Altar, is the Altarpiece of S. Sebastian, paintedfor the Pucci Chapel in the SS. Annunziata, now in theNational Gallery, and for the date of this—1475—wehave no authority but Vasaris statement. We have,however, the following documentary notices of gold-smiths work of this epoch, all of which has unfor-tunately perished. In 1472 he was commissioned by the Signoria toexecute a silver helmet, goblets and other vessels, to bepresented to Federigo di Montefeltro, Count of Urbino,in recognition of his services, as Captain of the troopsof the Republic, in reducing Volterra to submission.(Doc. XVI. p. 272.) In 1473 he was again commissionedby the Signoria to make a large silver basin for use inthe Chapel, and of this we have the notice that it waswrought with garlands smdputti. (Doc.
