This hill takes its name from a tradition that the re-sidence of Caiaphas was located upon its summit, andthat here the chief priests and scribes assembledtogether to take counsel against Jesus. It rises to aheight of nearly five hundred feet above the pool ofSiloam, and is situated near the lower part of thevalley. THE PLACE OF CRUCIFIXION. The question as to where the Crucifixion did takeplace has been carried on until recently without anyreasonable determination.
