Summary[edit]

Description
English: Syria, Seleukis & Pieria. Antioch. Time of Quintus Labienus. 47-19/8 BC.
Æ 24mm (13.51 g). Dated Year 272 of the Seleucid Era (41/0 BC).
Laureate head of Zeus right
Zeus seated left, holding Nike and sceptre; cap before and cap below throne, BO[Σ] (date) in exergue.
RPC I 4223; SNG Copenhagen 81.
Good VF, dark brown patina.
This coin was struck while Antioch was occupied by the forces of the Roman expatriot Labienus and the Parthian general Pakoros. Because of this, this issue reverts to the Seleukid era dating, rather than using the conventional Caesarean era. This was the last time an issue from Antioch bore the Seleukid dating.
Italiano: Syria, Seleukis & Pieria. Antiochia. Periodo di it:Quinto Labieno. 47-19/8 a.C.
RPC I 4223; SNG Copenhagen 81.
VF, patina marrone scura.
