Description

Antigny (Vienne)

L’Eglise Notre–Dame-de-l’Incarnation, chapelle Sainte-Catherine, côté est.

Au-dessus d'une large baie, à l'est, est représenté un christ en majesté dans une mandorle. Il est entouré des quatre Évangélistes.


La chapelle funéraire Sainte-Catherine a été ajoutée au xve siècle, au sud du chœur de l'église, par testament de Renaud de Montléon, écuyer et seigneur de Boismorand (1421).

Le décor, de la fin du XVe siècle, est une commande de Jean de Moussy (1433-1510), seigneur de Boismorand et de la Contour, dont l’écu figure au-dessus de l’arcade d’entrée de la chapelle.

Une partie de la chapelle a servi de sacristie. Elle a été entièrement dégagée en 1985. Les chapelles de Boismorand et de Jouhet possèdent le même type de décor.

Le décor représente l’Enfance du Christ, la Passion, le Jugement dernier, et des images de saints. Le “Dict des trois morts et des trois vifs” complète le décor.
