Bartlett. and ordinary stock for $2 and $3a barrel. Origin, Berkshire, England,1770, propagated by Mr. Williams,near London. Introduced intoAmerica and disseminated by EnochBartlett of Boston. Tree, healthy, vigorous, half-hardy, overcomes blight better thanmost varieties, Tery productive. Fruit, large, oblong, obtuse,pyriform. Color, yellow, with verynumerous minute brown dots, oftenrussetted at the apex. Stem, 1^inches long, in a small irregularcavity. Calyx, open in an irregu-lar basin. Flesh, creamy white, fine grain-ed, very buttery and juicy ; flavor,sweet, perfumed, vinous. Season, September 1st to 15th. Quauty, dessert, very good,market, best. Adaptation, succeeds admirablyin southern Ontario, and as farnorth as our Bay of Quinte station. \ BARTLETT. (In England, WilliamsBoncretien.) No pear of the same seasonequals in popularity the Bart-lett, for either dessert orcanning. Indeed, while it isin the market, no other pearcompares with it in price orbrings as much profit to theg
