The series of Contributions to the Hydrology of EasternUnited States, of which the volumes for 1903 and 1904have appeared, gives an opportunity for the publicationof many papers which are not of sufficient length towarrant separate publication. The two reports issuedhave been very favorably received, and a third volume,similar to that of 1904, has been prepared (Water-SupplyPaper No. 145). In connection with the investigations for the geologicbranch, Mr. George Otis Smith collected water data forcertain of the quadrangles along the coast, and in addition 190 TWENTY-SIXTH REPORT OF GEOLOGICAL SURVEY. made a special investigation of the water supply from abasin of glacial gravels near Augusta, which examinationhad an important bearing on questions of water supplyfor that city. The following publications relating to undergroundwaters of the State were issued: (Well and spring records), by W. S. Bay ley: Water-Sup. and Irr. Paper No. 102,pp. 27-55.
