NSF Director NSF Director France Córdova presented Feng Zhang with the 2014 Alan T. Waterman Award, which recognizes an outstanding researcher under the age of 35 and funds his or her research in any field of science or engineering. Zhang is a faculty member at the Broad Institute of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, an investigator at MIT’s McGovern Institute for Brain Research and the W.M. Keck Career Development Professor with a joint appointment in MIT’s departments of brain and cognitive sciences and biological engineering. His research focuses on understanding how the brain works. Zhang was named the 2014 Waterman awardee “for development and application of molecular technologies that enable systematic interrogation of intact biological systems through precise genomic manipulation.” Read more about the 2014 Alan Waterman awardee in this press release.
