A Junqueira 220 foi fundada em 1992 por Carmen Olazabal Almada e Luís Tovar Lemos Figueira, formados pelo Instituto Central de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales?ICCR, Madrid, nos anos 70. Nesse ICCT Carmen Olazabal Almada trabalhou até vir para Portugal, e Luís Figueira integrou as equipas exteriores móveis a cargo da mesma Instituição.
