Summary[edit]

Description
English: Part of an Anglo-Saxon or Anglo-Norse cross carving in St Andrew's parish church, Aycliffe, County Durham, England.
One of two stone crosses at St Andrew's. Historians disagree over their date. Some claim they are Anglo-Saxon and date from the 780s. Others believe they show Hiberno-Norse (Irish viking) influence and date from the 10th century, when there was an influx of Norse settlers in the Tees valley area.
