Anglo-Saxon brooch: Foot of small long brooch, copper alloy
Description
English: The foot and lower section of the bow from an Early Anglo-Saxon cast copper alloy small long brooch, modelled on the crucifrom type, and dating to the 6th century. The foot is flat in section and semi-circular in profile, with no ornament, while the straight section above it features four raised cast horizontal bands. The fragment measures 28.2mm in length, with a width of 23.7mm. The crescentic foot is 10.4mm deep. The fragment's maximum thickness is 3.4mm, and it weighs 4.0g.
