Description

Qabila, aged 10, pictured with International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell at a Red Cross hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan, 31 October 2011.

Qabila lost a leg to a landmine two weeks ago in Afghanistan, but is already smiling again after receiving treatment and a prosthetic limb from the Red Cross. UK aid is supporting the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to run a network of seven orthopaedic centres across Afghanistan to assist those affected by mobility disabilities, including hundreds of mine victims.
