Summary[edit]

Description
English: Anchors recovered from Cefn Sidan beach A nearby information board describes the anchors, which were found within 200 metres of each other. They are Old Admiralty Longshanks, a design introduced in 1841 but later replaced by more efficient stockless anchors. (Stocks are the upper arms near to the shackle). They were made in Britain from wrought iron. Anchors of this size would have come from a vessel of at least 1,000 tons, which must have got into extreme difficulty on the notorious sands. (A ship's name and date are not given, presumably unknown).
