Русский: Аммониты Сарматского моря (лат. Ammonoidea), — подкласс вымерших головоногих моллюсков, существовавших с девона по палеоген. Своё название аммониты получили в честь древнеегипетского божества Амона, иногда изображавшегося с рогами барана. Аммониты почти полностью вымерли в ходе мел-палеогенового вымирания; предполагается, что отдельные роды пережили вымирание и исчезли уже в датском веке палеоценовой эпохи.
English: Ammonites of the Sarmatian Sea (lat. Ammonoidea) are a subclass of extinct cephalopods that existed from the Devonian to the Paleogene. Ammonites got their name in honor of the ancient Egyptian treasure of Amon, sometimes struck by the horns of a ram. Ammonites almost completely died out during the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction; it was revealed that certain genera survived extinction and disappeared already in the Danish discovery of the Paleocene era.
