Bowen.&ros I.Uli.JIil- 1S30J SITE FOE A N A E M 0 E Y . 48 L The site at Gordons Iron-works was ascertained to be unprovided with the requisite water power.It was asserted in the presence of the owner of the site, and without contradiction from him, that in thesnnuner and fall of 1827, during a period of six months, his mill was unemployed, because Whites creekdid nut afford water enough to admit of its being- employed; and, although lie afterwards objected to theaccuracy of this assertion, he admitted that at the time mentioned the operations of his mill had beenstoppedfor the want of water during a period of four months, and further admitted that the failure of thestream was more rapid than was usual in other streams, and was believed to be accelerated by leakageor some other extraordinary cause.
