Summary[edit]

Description
English: American skunk cabbage (Lysichiton Americana ). The giant leaves in the foreground belong to two plants of an alien species that have established themselves on the edge of the Nyfer estuary. American skunk cabbage is a showy member of the Arum family and is planted ornamentally in wet and swampy areas. It attracts pollinators with a powerful odour, hence its name. It seems to have a tendancy to colonize and could become invasive, see here for an axample of this 175600. I think this would be a pity although the plant is interesting as a curiousity.
