It is fitted up as an outdoor living-room,and beyond it is the garden, which is laid out in a formalmanner. The billiard-room, which occupies the entrance side ofthe house, is an interesting room. It is also trimmed withFlemish oak, and has a three-foot paneled wainscoting, abovewhich the walls are treated in crimson. A plate rack above extends around theroom. The ingle-nook contains anopen fireplace builtof blue granite, witha shelf of hewn stoneresting on stone cor-bels. At either sideof the fireplace arepaneled seats. The dining-roomis also trimmedwith Flemish oak,and the walls arewainscoted to theheight of five feetand finished witha plate rack. Theceiling is beamedand ribbed, form-ing panels. The House Setting Back from the Road Affords an Opportunity for a Broad Expanse of Velvet Lawn, Enclosed by a Low Stone Fence countershelr is devoted to the china closets with leaded glassdoors, while the space above is arched and provided withshelves. In the opposite corner of the room is the fireplace,which is built with a facing and hearth of Moravian tile,and a mantel of simple design with the shelf resting on carvedbrackets. A door with theupper panel glazedin leaded glass opensinto the butlers pan-try, which forms theconnecting link be-tween the kitchenand the dining-room.This butlers pantryis fitted with draw-ers, dressers, andsink complete. Thekitchen and its de-pendencies, includ-ing the servantshall, which is now aproper adjunct tothe well-regulatedhouse, is fitted withall the best modernfixtures.
