The entrance to the house is into a great living-hall, inwhich are the stairs to the second story; for there is no rearhall. This great hall is the center of the life of the house,from which all the rooms open and from which French win-dows permit of ready access to the patio. It is trimmedwith oak, finished in Flemish style. The ceiling is beamed,and the open fireplace is built of buff brick, with facingsrising to the ceiling. The simplicity of the hall harmonizeswell with the Mission furniture with which it is furnished. The reception roomto the left and thelibrary are conven-iently placed, andare finished in ahandsome manner. The dining-roomis treated with acream, green andbronze effect.
