Ruta Bagas, Russian or Swedish Turnips. Grow very rapidly, and yield from twenty-five to thirty-five tons per acre, in good, rich, deep soil, with proper cultivation. The Rnta Bagas proper should be sown in this latitude from May 25th to June 25th ; while the smaller-growing turnips can be sown from July ist to the middle of August. Sow 2 to 3 lbs. per acre. Long Island Improved Purple-Top Ruta Baga. This is undoubtedly the finest variety of purple-top Ruta Baga, and originated by one of our Long Island growers. It is twice the size of ordinary American stocks, and although size is usually got at the expense of quality, the quality is superior to any that we have tested. It is perfectly hardy. In a fair test on several Long Island farms, alongside some of the best European and American varieties, it produced almost twice the weight per acre of any other variety. IMPR0V:ED AMERICAN (Pnrvle-Top).-An old lead- ing variety; very hardy and productive ; flesh yellow, solid, sweet and fine-flavored ; equally good for stock or table use. 10 cts. oz.; 15 cts, X lb.; 40 cts. lb. I^AING'S IMPROVED.—One of the earliest of the Ruta Bagas ; keeps well ; good for stock or table use ; 5 cts. pkt.; 10 cts. oz.; 15 cts. X It).; 40 cts. lb. LARGE WHITE FRENCH.—Flesh firm, white and solid ; attains a large size, and has a very rich and sweet flavor ; a very popular variety. loc;. oz.; 150. % lb.; 450. lb. Turnips SPECIALLY ADAPTED FOR STOCK FEIEDINGi. WHITE FLESHED. PURPIE-TOP WHITE GIOBE.—One oi the best early varieties grown ; fine, thick globe-shape, of large size, rapid growth, and of extra fine quality ; heavy cropper ; in other re- spects similar to the Red Top Strap Leaf. It keeps well, and is unequaled for stock-feeding, table use or marketing. 10 cts. oz.; 15 cts. X lb.; 40 cts. lb. I,ONG WHITE OR COW HORN.—Matures very quickly ; root shaped like a carrot, about half of which is formed above ground ; flesh white, fine-grained and sweet, and of excellent quality. 10 cts. oz ; 20 cts. X lb.; 55 cts. lb. YELLOW FLESHED. YEIIOW GLOBE-One of the best varieties for general crop ; flesh very firm and sweet, and keeps well until late in the spring; grows to a large size, and is excellent both for stock or table use. 10 cts. oz.; 15 cts. %. lb.; 40 cts. lb. YEIIOW ABERDEEN.—Very hardy and productive, good keeper ; globe-shaped ; color, pale yellow, with purple top. Very firm in texture, and closely resembling the Ruta Bagas in good-keeping qualities ; good for table or stock. 10 cts. oz.; 15 cts. X lb.; 45 cts. lb. If desired by mail add 8 cts. per lb.
