Description
English: In 1750 a small chapel was built from branches and wood for the small native community. This was the first chapel on Aruba and it was dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary that year. However, after the construction of St. Anne's Church (1776) and St. Francis Church this chapel was used less until it was in ruins by 1816. In 1942 it was decided to built a new chapel on this same spot but this only came true until 1952. The old altar cross had been preserved and was restored. The chapel remains important for the people of Aruba, as people bring candles to pray, to visit for meditation and special religious services. This chapel is situated in Alto Vista, Noord.
